House Bill 2700 signed by the governor and effective March 4 amends rules of civil procedure for the court to approve a process for payment of damages as part of settlement or judgment in a class action and if any amount awarded as damages is not claimed, the court shall order at least 50% of the amount not paid to class members to fund the Legal Services Program and the remainder to be paid to an entity for purposes that the court determines are related to the class action or directly beneficial to interests of class members.
