Spring into Service

Colleagues around the world are helping their communities
By Jeff Lyons, CSC Senior Communication Specialist
Our colleagues have sprung into service to serve their local communities. They’ve volunteered their time, collected funds, and donated goods to rededicate themselves to helping their neighbors around the world.
The stories below highlight just some of the ways we’re working to make the world a better place. For more information on how we give back all year long, visit our CSC Gives Back page.
Everest Challenge | Guernsey, Channel Islands
CSC’s Guernsey office kicked off the Spring into Service season with energy and heart, taking part in the Everest Challenge at St Sampsons High School, an annual community event that’s as fun as it is impactful. Teams from across the island, including students, youth organizations, and local businesses, took turns climbing a wall tall enough to match Mount Everest in cumulative height. All funds raised support Le Murier School’s residential and independent learning program, which plays a vital role in helping students develop life skills beyond the classroom.
“Our team was proud to get involved in something that really brings the community together,” shares Melanie Duquemin, director, deputy head of Funds. “It’s more than just a fundraiser; it’s about supporting young people in building independence and confidence.” With £350 raised in-office (matched through the CSC Gives Back program), the event was a true team effort. And with tens of thousands of pounds raised islandwide each year, the Everest Challenge continues to be a powerful example of community-driven impact.
Disability advocacy | Multiple
Advocacy thrives when colleagues act with compassion. In the U.S., Marketing’s Nick Elder revitalized CSC’s Rock Your Socks fundraiser to honor World Down Syndrome Day. He coordinated sock sales at CSC’s headquarters and Marvel offices, urging colleagues to wear vibrant, mismatched socks—a representation of the extra chromosome in those with Down syndrome. Nick’s efforts generated $800, which CSC matched, resulting in a total donation of $1,600 to the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware. “I’m so grateful to everyone who showed up, participated, and made the fundraiser a success,” Nick says. “I truly appreciate everyone who Rocked their Socks that week and supported the cause.”
Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, Payroll’s Marta Jurcan volunteered with the Sjaak Pach Stichting foundation, which has been organizing sailing vacations for children and young adults with disabilities for more than 40 years. When the foundation faced a shortage of volunteers, Marta stepped up, committing to a week aboard a ship where she provided one-on-one care to Jesse, a 27-year-old participant. From morning routines to scavenger hunts and music bingo nights, Marta supported Jesse’s every need, helping to create unforgettable memories. “A small act of kindness can significantly impact someone’s life,” Marta reflects, sharing how this experience was humbling and life-affirming.
Through their actions, Nick and Marta remind us that service is not just a gesture—it’s a force that builds stronger, more inclusive communities and leaves a lasting impact on everyone involved.
Hunger Advocacy | Delaware, U.S.; Texas, U.S.
Our colleagues never back down from a challenge, and this spring, several of them took up the fight against hunger in their local communities.
Jeremy Stephens worked with his neighborhood parish to prep and provide snack bags for an afterschool program. For the last three years, he’s volunteered monthly and twice in the summer. “Giving back is about paying it forward to me. When my mom was a kid, things were tight for her family, and someone provided a Christmas meal and presents for her and her siblings one year. It’s nice to be able to be there for someone else who may need it,” the senior technical product trainer says. To date, he and the other volunteers have packed more than 3,000 bags!
Closer to our U.S. headquarters, colleagues teamed up to support the Food Bank of Delaware. Jenny Dawson and 23 colleagues volunteered for three hours to pack and box 5,000 lunches for children who are food insecure. “We love to see our team rally to support our communities, and it was heartwarming to be able to help prepare the meals that are provided weekly,” says Jenny, senior director of global client services. She says her business unit is also planning their third annual canned food drive, where teams build sculptures using the cans and then donate the items to local food banks.
Similarly, Melissa Stam worked with 19 of her colleagues to organize a donation drive benefitting the food bank. “We had a wonderful time working together for the Food Bank of Delaware. It's so much fun getting everyone together,” the service manager says. More than 113 pounds of food and more than $750 were collected. Their efforts were then capped off with an in-person volunteering day, where they packed nearly 600 bags for the food bank’s backpack program, “The Backpack Program provides food year-round to children in need for weekends and holidays when school is not in session and federal school meal programs are not available,” says Kat Fender, a global solutions expert. “We hope to do another drive and volunteering event this fall!” adds Katie Patterson a billing and invoice coordinator.
Faithful Friends Animal Society | Wilmington, Delaware, and Sacramento, California
When temperatures change, our furry friends can face challenges. When CSC's Strategic Account Management Team and Sales Teams saw a post on social media that Faithful Friends needed warm blankets for their animals, they sprang into action and spread the word. Nearly 30 colleagues came together and organized a drive to collect new and gently used blankets. They created an easy way to collect as many blankets as possible, and ensured colleagues across multiple offices, including Delaware and California, could participate. Our California colleagues mailed blankets and sent donations via Venmo for blankets to be purchased and then donated in Delaware.
Over the span of two weeks, the teams collected more than 155 new blankets and made the donation to Faithful Friends Animal Society. To the participating teams, giving back means putting others before yourself and leaving the community around you better than you found it. Lending a helping hand, giving a few hours of your time, or sharing a warm smile with someone can make a huge impact on someone's life. The animals awaiting a foster home or adoption are forever grateful.

Rooted in action: CSC Celebrates Earth Week 2025 Across India
CSC’s offices across India came together to celebrate Earth Week in April with energy, intention, and community spirit. With a strong focus on sustainability, wellness, and environmental responsibility, our colleagues turned awareness into meaningful action—demonstrating that even small efforts can lead to lasting change.
In Bengaluru, the week was filled with interactive and purposeful initiatives. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves for a tech park cleaning drive, collecting litter and beautifying shared spaces. The “Ditch Paper Cups” challenge encouraged reusable mug usage, rewarding consistent participants with green desk plants. Energy-saving behaviors were promoted through the “Switch-Off Campaign,” while the “No Print Challenge” inspired a digital-first mindset and reduced paper waste—all under the guidance of CSC’s environmental champions.
Chennai brought mindfulness into the mix with a unique “Digital Detox Hour,” encouraging colleagues to unplug from devices. An indoor planting session added natural beauty to the office and promoted team bonding. A sustainability-themed game spurred engaging conversations on personal green practices, followed by a healthy snack break featuring fruits and fresh juices.
In Gurugram, Earth Week took on a creative and impactful tone. A five-day plastic collection drive motivated colleagues to bring unused plastics from home, which were then responsibly donated to Hara Jeevan, an environmental nonprofit. The celebration culminated in a DIY birdhouse workshop, where colleagues crafted eco-friendly birdhouses to support local wildlife.
Together toward a greener tomorrow
From reducing plastic waste and conserving energy to building homes for birds, Earth Week 2025 at CSC was a resounding success. Together, our offices—and our colleagues across the globe—demonstrated that collective action, rooted in care for the planet, can create a meaningful, sustainable impact for generations to come.
