New CSC Report Illustrates How AI is Affecting Enterprise Security Leaders

CSC today released its CISO Outlook 2026 report, revealing that security leaders increasingly view artificial intelligence (AI) as an opportunity but also share concerns around AI-driven attacks, third-party AI use, and data exposure remain widespread.

Based on a survey of 300 senior executives, including chief information security officers (CISOs), chief technology officers (CTOs), chief information officers (CIOs), and heads of cybersecurity, the report found that 73% of respondents view AI as more of an opportunity than a risk for cybersecurity. At the same time, organizations continue to face challenges from domain and domain name system (DNS) threats, ransomware, and increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.

Key findings from the report include:

  • Domain and DNS hijacking, cybersquatting, and ransomware ranked among the leading cybersecurity threats facing organizations

  • Only 14% of respondents said they were very confident in their organization's ability to mitigate domain attacks

  • Ninety-eight percent expressed concern about the risks associated with giving third-party AI-based systems access to company data

  • Seventy-nine percent said they were concerned about cybersecurity risks linked to suppliers' and partners' use of AI tools

  • Looking ahead, respondents expect social media impersonation and defamation to pose one of the greatest cybersecurity threats
