CHARITABLE SERVICES

As a charitable organization, it can be difficult to comply with state requirements. CSC continually monitors the ever-changing landscape of state charitable solicitation statutes, so you can focus on your important philanthropic work. We prepare your paperwork and submit the filing to renew your registration before the due date, and we’ll follow up with each state to confirm that the filing has been accepted.

FAQs

  • Do charitable organizations need to be concerned about compliance?

Yes! State-required compliance applies to charitable organizations just as it does most other businesses. Even before embarking on any fundraising or outreach, you must complete a lot of paperwork. You will then be responsible for meeting annual compliance standards for each state in which you have registered.

  • Do I need a registered agent?

Several states require a registered agent as part of the charitable filing process. CSC offers this service.

  • What is a registered agent?

A registered agent, statutory agent, or agent for service of process (SOP) provides a legal address within the jurisdiction where legal documents may be served during business hours. It is the registered agent’s duty to receive and forward that SOP to the entity’s designated contact, usually a company’s legal team or representative.

The registered agent also receives official government documents, including franchise tax notices and annual report forms. Registered agents may also notify business entities whether or not they are in “good standing.”
